SPRING TRAINING GAME RECAP: 2/24/17

UW-Milwaukee Panthers 0, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 11

The Brewers kicked off their 2017 Spring Training slate with a game against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Panthers in Maryvale on Friday afternoon with Milwaukee rolling to an 11-0 victory.  Lewis Brinson got the scoring started in the bottom of the third, when he roped a line drive home run over the left field wall.  He followed that up with a three-run jack in the bottom of the fourth, then left fielder Scooter Gennett went back-to-back to make the score 5-0.  First baseman Jesus Aguilar launched a three-run bomb and Jett Bandy scored on an error to extend the Milwaukee lead to 9-0 in the fourth. The Brewers tacked on two more in the sixth when catcher Dustin Houle doubled in Garrett Cooper and Nate Orf to make the score 11-0.  Eight pitchers combined to shutout the Panthers on just two hits.  Hiram Burgos got the start and worked two scoreless frames and Corey Knebel was credited with the win while converted first baseman Nick Ramirez struck out the side in his lone inning of work.
