SPRING TRAINING GAME RECAP: 2/27/17

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 5, Texas Rangers 0

The Brewers picked up their first Cactus League victory of the year on Monday afternoon, shutting out the Rangers for a 5-0 win in Surprise. Milwaukee got on the board in the fifth when Lewis Brinson singled in Andrew Susac and Travis Shaw lifted a sacrifice fly to center, plating Ivan De Jesus, Jr. Milwaukee added two more in the top of the sixth then tacked on an insurance run in the ninth when Ryan Cordell scored following a single by Lucas Erceg. Seven Brewers pitchers combined to shutout the Rangers on just three hits. Junior Guerra started and tossed a scoreless first before turning things over to the bullpen. Jhan Marinez pitched a scoreless frame and was credited with the win while Tyler Cravy and Stephen Kohlscheen each worked two shutout innings.
