SPRING TRAINING GAME RECAP: 3/2/17

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 2, Seattle Mariners 6

The Brewers fell to 2-4 in Cactus League play, falling to Seattle by a score of 6-2 in Peoria on Thursday afternoon.  Milwaukee got on the board first when Scooter Gennett scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Brett Phillips in the top of the second inning but the Mariners scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, before hanging three runs on the Brewers in the seventh.  Milwaukee added a run in the top of the eighth when Ryan Cordell scored on Yadiel Rivera’s sac fly to make the score 6-2 but that would be as close as the Brewers would get.  Matt Garza started and worked a scoreless first inning before turning things over to the bullpen.  Jhan Marinez was charged with one run in his lone inning of work and was tagged with the loss.
