SPRING TRAINING GAME RECAP: 3/6/17

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 14, Cleveland Indians 5

The Brewers evened their Cactus League record at 5-5 with a 14-5 thumping of the Cleveland Indians in Goodyear on Monday afternoon. Milwaukee plated two runs in the first before Cleveland tied things up with a pair of runs off starter Matt Garza. The Brewers responded with four runs in the top of the third and one in the fifth before blowing things open with a five run sixth inning. The highlight came when third baseman Lucas Erceg crushed a grand slam to right field, knocking in Michael Reed, Brett Phillips and Nate Orf. Erceg was done however, as he belted his second home run of the game in the top of the eighth inning to extend Milwaukee’s lead. The Brewers tacked on one more run in the ninth as Lewis Brinson scored on a Yadiel Rivera triple, providing the final margin.
