SPRING TRAINING GAME RECAP: 3/14/17

MILWAUKEE BREWERS 7, Chicago Cubs 7

A back-and-forth ninth inning saw the Brewers take the lead in the top half of the inning, only to have the Cubs answer with a run in the bottom half of the inning as the two teams played to a 7-7 tie at Sloan Park in Mesa on Tuesday afternoon. The Cubs got a first inning home run from Kris Bryant but the Brewers answered with two runs in the top of the second. Chicago tied it in their half of the second, then hung four runs in the bottom of the third. Milwaukee got two back in the fourth and added one in the fifth to cut the Cubs lead to 6-5 before the ninth inning scoring left the game knotted. Zach Davies got the start but got roughed up, allowing six runs over three innings. Third baseman Lucas Erceg finished the day with three hits in five at-bats while first baseman Eric Thames went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the spring.
