SPRING TRAINING GAME RECAP: 3/17/17

Kansas City Royals 8, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 5

The Brewers saw their Cactus League record fall to 11-10 as they fell to Kansas City by a score of 8-5 on Friday afternoon in Maryvale. The Royals scored three runs in the top of the first off of starter Jimmy Nelson but the Brewers responded with four in their half of the inning.  Ryan Braun launched his first home run of the spring, a two-run shot, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis followed with a double to score Domingo Santana, then scored himself on a single by Jesus Aguilar.  Kansas City tacked on two in the fourth and two in the fifth to go up 8-4 before Manny Pina added a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh, but that would be as close as the Brewers would get. Nelson was tagged for five runs over three innings and took the loss while Wily Peralta worked the final five innings, allowing just one earned run.
