SATURDAY’S GAMES

Chicago Cubs 11, MILWAUKEE BREWERS 6

The Cubs racked up 11 runs on 17 hits on Saturday night as they rolled over the Brewers by a score of 11-6. Tommy Milone got the starting nod for Milwaukee and went four innings, allowing four runs, before turning things over to the bullpen. Jhan Marinez followed and was tagged with the loss after giving up three runs, two earned, in 2.1 innings of work. Nick Franklin made his Brewers debut, filling in for Ryan Braun in left field, and wound up going 1-for-3 with a home run. Jonathan Villar finished 2-for-5 with a homer and Jett Bandy launched his first home run of the season, driving in a pair of runs.

Omaha Storm Chasers 2, COLORADO SPRINGS SKY SOX 11

The Sky Sox scored a run in the first, two in the second, and five in the fourth as they improved to 3-0 on the year with an 11-2 win over Omaha. Brandon Woodruff started for Colorado Springs and picked up the victory after going 6.1 innings and allowing just one unearned run. Yadiel Rivera and Eric Sogard each collected their first home runs of the season as part of two-hit games while Garrett Cooper contributed a pair of doubles and Kyle Wren and Ryan Cordell each added two hits.

BILOXI SHUCKERS 2, Montgomery Biscuits 1

A Dustin DeMuth double in the top of the ninth drove in Michael Reed with what turned out to be the winning run as the Shuckers remained undefeated, edging Montgomery by a score of 2-1. Taylor Williams got the start for Biloxi and twirled three scoreless frames before giving way to Jon Perrin. Perrin surrendered just one run over 4.2 innings while striking out seven. Nick Ramirez got the final out of the eighth to earn the win with Preston Gainey tossing a clean ninth for the save. DeMuth finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and a home run while driving in both Biloxi runs and Dustin Houle added a single and a walk in three trips to the plate.

CAROLINA MUDCATS 1, Frederick Keys 5

After a huge offensive showing in their opener, the Mudcats bats were relatively quiet on Saturday afternoon as they managed just one run on three hits in a 5-1 loss. Kodi Medeiros got the start and took the loss, allowing three runs over five innings of work. Eric Hanhold followed and gave up a pair of runs in his three inning stint. Jake Gatewood provided the lone Carolina run, hitting his first home run of the year, and also drew a walk. Lucas Erceg and Troy Stokes each added a single for the only other Mudcats base hits of the game.

Quad Cities River Bandits 2 WISCONSIN TIMBER RATTLERS 3
Mario Feliciano‘s eighth inning home run broke a 2-2 tie and helped the Timber Rattlers defeat Quad Cities in their home opener by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. Thomas Jankins got the ball to start the game for Wisconsin and went five innings, giving up just one run before leaving the game after being hit by a line drive on the final out in the top of the fifth. Daniel Brown tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up the win with Aaron Myers recording the final three outs to notch the save. Ryan Aguilar finished 2-for-4 with a double and Jonathan Oquendo reached base twice with a single and a walk.
