WHAT TO WATCH FOR

– After an off day on Monday, Colorado Springs opens up a series with the Memphis Redbirds on Tuesday night, sending top pitching prospect Josh Hader to the mound to make his second start of the season.

– The Carolina Mudcats continue their series with Wilmington with Conor Harber set to make his 2017 debut. The Mudcats took game one of the series on Monday with Marcos Diplan twirling five no-hit innings to earn his first win of the season.

– The Timber Rattlers will play a pair on Tuesday after having their game rained out on Monday evening. Venezuelan righty Victor Diaz, who underwent Tommy John surgery in 2015, saw only limited action with the Brewers AZL affiliate during his rehab last season, and will get the ball in game one. Jake Drossner, Milwaukee’s tenth round pick out of Maryland in 2016, will make the start for the T-Rats in game two.

MONDAY’S PLAYER OF THE DAY

MARCOS DIPLAN (Carolina Mudcats)
Acquired from Texas in the 2015 trade that sent Yovani Gallardo to the Rangers, Diplan burst onto the scene with a dominant first half at Wisconsin last year. The 20-year-old right-hander made his 2017 debut on Monday night and wound up tossing five no-hit innings, striking out five Wilmington batters.

* We’ve received a handful of comments over the past week about the repetitiveness of the daily On Deck and Around the Horn posts and it seems to be the general consensus that there’s just no need for those multiple posts so we’ve decided to merge the two back into one. This will be the last day for the On Deck post, with everything being consolidated into the traditional Around the Horn column.
