Profile: A July 2nd signing by Milwaukee in 2015, the Venezuelan-born Avila made his pro debut a year later in the Dominican Summer League.   He struggled in 49 games for the DSL Brewers and returned to the Dominican for a second season in 2017, suiting up for Milwaukee’s co-op team.  He fared much better at the plate in his second DSL stint, raising his average 61 points while upping his walk total and lowering his strikeout rate.  A contact hitter with a slight frame, Avila has a knack for butting the bat on the baseball, but doesn’t drive it for much power at this point in his career.  He has above average speed on the bases and is a slick fielder who can make the tough plays thanks to his soft hands and better than average arm.

2016: Signed by the Brewers at the age of 16 for a reported $25,000, Avila was sent to the Dominican Summer League like most International players, but struggled at the plate in his pro debut, hitting just .192 in 177 at-bats.

2017:  Avila returned to the Dominican for a second season and hit for a much better average in his sophomore season, batting .253 with four doubles.  He swiped 19 bases in 26 attempts and came around to score 29 runs in 48 games.  Defensively, Avila saw time at both shortstop and second base for the co-op Brewers, committing 15 errors in 213 chances.
