Profile:  Signed by the Brewers as an undrafted free agent in 2016, Barker played collegiately at Chico State, then went the independent league route, playing for the Traverse City Beach Bums in the Frontier League.  He broke camp with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2017 and spent the first half of the year in the Midwest League, before earning a promotion to High-A Carolina in July.  With a fastball that sits between 91-93 mph, Barker throws a variety of pitches featuring good, late movement.  Working strictly as a reliever, he has put up solid strikeout numbers while limiting the walks, making him a guy who can be counted on late in games.

2017:  The Brewers had Barker head to Class-A Wisconsin to begin his pro career, and he pitched well out of the Timber Rattlers bullpen.  In 22 outings, he posted a 2.84 earned run average, recording five saves while striking out 24 batters in 21.2 innings of work.  He moved up to High-A Carolina in early July and spent the remainder of the season there, making 12 relief appearances and going 1-1 with a 3.68 ERA and one save.
