BECKMAN, CODY

Position: Pitcher

DOB: November 1, 1994

Height: 6’2″ / Weight: 190

Bats: Right / Throws: Left

40-man roster: No

How acquired: Drafted (30th round, 2017)

Profile:  Originally drafted by the New York Mets in the 25th round in 2016, Beckman opted to return to North Carolina State for his junior season.  He made 17 appearances for the Wolfpack in 2017 and was selected again in the draft, this time by Milwaukee, in the 30th round.  The Brewers signed him to a contract following the draft and he split time between the AZL and Helena in his first season in their system.  With a high 3/4 delivery and a low-90’s fastball, Beckman has worked almost exclusively out of the bullpen in both college and the pros and likely projects as a reliever going forward.

2017:  The Brewers were able to get a deal done with their 30th round selection and assigned him to the AZL to begin his pro career in Maryvale.  After three scoreless relief outings there, he quickly earned a bump to Helena, where he finished out his first season in Milwaukee’s system by making 14 more relief appearances, posting a 3.93 earned run average while recording 24 strikeouts in 18.1 innings of work.
