Profile: Signed by the Brewers out of the Dominican Republic in July of 2016 for a reported $725,000, Carmona was ranked by Baseball America as the 20th best international prospect available. Still very young, he has the potential to develop a nice power/speed combo that is rare in a shortstop, though some scouts believe that Carmona may eventually move to either second or third base, or possibly even shift to the outfield. A good athlete who is well built and still has room to grow, Carmona has decent speed, a batter than average arm and soft hands. His ability to switch-hit and handle both right-handed and left-handed pitching will serve him well and reports are that he has shown an advanced approach from both sides of the plate.

2017:  After signing with Milwaukee the previous summer, Carmona made his pro debut in the Dominican Summer League in 2017.  He appeared in 47 games for the DSL Brewers, batting .302/.406/.447 with nine doubles and seven triples.  That performance earned him a spot on the DSL All-Star team and a late-season promotion to Maryvale, where he appeared in 13 more games for the AZL Brewers.
