Profile:  Chosen by the Brewers in the 31st round of the 2015 Draft out of Shorter College in Georgia, Cross signed with Milwaukee and was sent to the AZL, making his debut with Milwaukee’s team in Maryvale that same summer.  He advanced to Helena a year later, then split the 2017 season between Low-A Wisconsin and High-A Carolina, making 27 combined relief appearances.  A polished reliever with a low-90’s fastball, Cross has averaged roughly a strikeout per inning early on in his career, but still misses the zone more than he would like and would benefit from more consistent mechanics as he continues to climb through the Brewers’ system.

2015:  After signing with Milwaukee following his senior season at Shorter, Cross joined the Brewers AZL affiliate, making 14 relief appearances there.  He went 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA and successfully converted on one of the two save opportunities he had.

2016:  Cross opened up the 2016 in extended spring training before heading to Helena once their season got underway.  He pitched in 20 games there, earning a spot on the Pioneer League All-Star team with an ERA of 1.82.  He recorded 33 strikeouts in 24.2 innings of work and converted on all ten of his save chances.

2017:  Following his successful season at Helena, the Brewers got aggressive with Cross and sent him to High-A Carolina to begin the 2017 season, skipping him past Low-A Wisconsin.  Cross had a tough time against the more advanced hitters in the Carolina League and was sent down to Wisconsin in June.  He finished out the year with the Timber Rattlers, going 1-1 with a 3.62 ERA in 19 games, notching two saves.
