Profile: Selected by the Brewers in the eighth round out of Kansas State in 2015, Griep signed a slightly below slot deal for a reported $150,000 then joined Helena in the Pioneer League to begin his pro career. He moved up to Class-A Wisconsin in 2016 and assumed the role of Timber Rattlers closer, earning an All-Star nod in just his second season. Having overcome Tommy John surgery in the past, Griep features a 12-6 curveball and a fastball that exhibits good late life, while showing an ability to keep the ball down in the zone. While he usually sits around 93-94 mph, he can reach back for a few extra ticks when needed, clocking in as high as 96 at times in 2016.

2015: After signing with Milwaukee following the draft, Griep joined the Brewers rookie league affiliate in Helena, Montana, but struggled in his professional debut, getting knocked around for 33 runs in 33.2 innings of work.

2016: Despite his statistical struggles at Helena, the Brewers saw enough out of Griep to send him to Class-A Wisconsin in 2016, and he thrived there, establishing himself as the Timber Rattlers closer. The “Grim Grieper” recorded a Wisconsin record 23 saves while going 2-2 with a 2.05 earned run average in 49 relief appearances for the T-Rats.
