Profile:  Selected by Milwaukee in the sixth round out of Louisville in 2017, Hairston signed with the Brewers for a bonus in excess of $200,000 and was sent to Class-A Wisconsin to begin his pro career.  A terrific infielder who was named to the ABCA Gold Glove team following his junior season at Louisville, Hairston is a good athlete with range and soft hands, but he doesn’t have a cannon for an arm, leading some to believe he might fit best at second base as he develops.  His bat is behind his defense at present and he struggled with an aggressive assignment to Single-A in his first season, but when he’s going good, he’s a line drive hitter who can occasionally knock one out of the park.

2017:  The Brewers chose to have Hairston skip over both the AZL and Helena after signing him, sending him straight to Wisconsin to make his professional debut.  He got off to a rocky start with the Timber Rattlers, but started to pick things up with the bat as the season went along, and he ended his first season batting .210 with three doubles and a pair of home runs.
