Profile: Selected by Milwaukee in the 12th round of the 2014 draft out of St. Louis High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, Yamamoto is an athletic and durable right-hander who made his pro debut in the AZL after signing with the Brewers. He moved up to Helena in 2015, then spent 2016 at Low-A Wisconsin, turning in his best season to date. Featuring a fastball that sits around 92-93 mph, Yamamoto also mixes in a changeup and a breaking ball and showed significant improvements as 2016 went on.

2014: After signing with the Brewers following the draft for a reported bonus of $330,000, Yamamoto made his way to Maryvale to begin his pro career with Milwaukee’s affiliate in the Arizona League. He saw action in ten games there, starting three, and went 0-1 with a 4.57 earned run average, striking out 22 batters in 21.2 innings of work.

2015: Yamamoto began the 2015 campaign in extended spring training, then joined Helena in the Pioneer League when their season opened up in June. In 14 games there, 11 of which were starts, he posted a record of just 1-6 with a 7.84 ERA and a WHIP of 1.95.

2016: Despite his struggles at Helena, the Brewers saw enough out of Yamamoto to move him up to Single-A Wisconsin to start the 2016 season. He saw action in 27 games for the Timber Rattlers, starting 18, and went 7-8 with a 3.82 ERA while racking up 152 strikeouts in 134.1 innings of work.
