40-man roster: No

Profile:  Selected by the Brewers out of high school in the 25th round in 2016, Lillis was a high school teammate of Riley Pint at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park, Kansas.  He signed with Milwaukee for a bonus reported to be worth $127,814, passing up an offer from the University of Arkansas, and made his way to Arizona to begin his pro career in the AZL.  He pitched in six games there, and was likely slated for another season of rookie ball in 2017 before suffering an injury that kept him out the entire season.  With a low-90’s fastball, Lillis has good size and could add a few ticks with further development.  He showed better than advertised command in his first season and could turn into an innings eating starter once healthy again.

2016:  After signing with Milwaukee following the draft, Lillis was assigned to the Brewers’ AZL affiliate in Maryvale, where he began his pro pitching career.  He appeared in six games with the AZL Brewers, starting four of them, and went 1-1 with a 2.81 ERA.

2017:  Lillis opened up the 2017 season in extended spring training, but suffered an undisclosed injury which cost him all of 2017.  He was placed on the 60-day disabled list in June and did not see any game action in 2017.
