Profile:  Selected by the Brewers with their competitive balance pick at the end of the first round, Lutz signed with Milwaukee for $2.35 million, passing up an offer to play college ball at the University of Texas.  He was assigned to Milwaukee’s affiliate in the Arizona League to start his professional career, then earned a promotion to Helena before returning to the AZL for the playoffs.  A power hitter with good size and strength, Lutz has plus bat speed and squares the ball up well.  He uses the whole field and generates loft with his swing, making him a threat to go yard at anytime.  With decent speed, Lutz saw some action in center field early on, but most scouts believe he will be ticketed for a corner spot as he continues to mature.

2017:  After signing with the Brewers following the draft, Lutz was sent to Maryvale to get his feet wet with the AZL Brewers.  He handled himself well in 16 games there, batting .279/.347/.559 with four doubles, three triples and three home runs.  That earned Lutz a promotion to Helena, where he appeared in 24 more games, batting .333/.432/.559 with six homers.
