Profile: Signed by the Brewers out of the Dominican Republic in 2016, Maria made his professional debut with Milwaukee’s team in the DSL in 2017.  A versatile player who played all over the infield in his first season, Maria also can play the outfield if he struggles on the dirt.  A lanky middle infielder presently, Maria has a big arm and the range to handle shortstop, which would seem to be his best fit.  Due in part to a big leg kick that gets him out of rhythm at times, Maria had contact issues in his first season, but can generate plus power and should grown into some more as he fills out.

2017:  The Brewers sent Maria to the Dominican Summer League to get his career started and he appeared in 62 games during his first season.  He struggled at the plate, batting just .191 while striking out 57 times in 62 games, but 11 of his 43 hits went for extra-bases, including a pair of home runs.
