Profile: Signed by the Brewers to a free agent contract after going undrafted out of the University of Illinois, McInerney was sent to Maryvale, where he made his pro debut with the AZL Brewers, leading the club in doubles and home runs and finishing second in hits and runs batted in, while serving as a key cog in the heart of their order.  A power-hitting first baseman, McInerney was named to the All-Big Ten second team as a senior and he showed why, hammering AZL pitching to the tune of 28 extra-base hits in his first taste of pro ball.  As with many power hitters, strikeouts are a concern with McInerney and the true test will come as he faces more advanced pitching.  An intelligent player, who also played some in the outfield at Illinois, McInerney is good around the bag at first and his six-five frame presents infielders with a large target to throw to.

2017:  The Brewers signed McInerney to a free agent contract and assigned him to their Arizona League affiliate, where he played in 50 games in his first season of professional baseball.  He hit .243/.378/.487 in 189 at-bats and 28 of his 46 hits when for extra bases as he tallied 19 doubles and nine home runs.
