Profile: Signed by the Brewers out of Venezuela for a bonus of $400,000 as part of their July 2nd class in 2016, Melendez made his pro debut in 2017.  A power bat who profiles more as a corner outfielder, Melendez saw time at all three outfield spots in his first season with the majority of his starts coming in right field.  He has decent speed at present, but he’s not a burner and his plus arm would make right field a likely spot for him in the future.  A player with plus bat speed, who can drive the ball to all fields, contact was predictably an issue in his first season, but as he develops and grows more patient, he could turn into a steal for Milwaukee.

2017:  After working in the Dominican following his signing in 2016, Melendez got his feet wet in the Dominican Summer League in 2017, appearing in 66 games for the DSL Brewers.   He hit .232 with 13 of his 57 hits going for extra bases, but was a bit over-aggressive at times, walking just eight times all season.
