Profile:  Selected by the Brewers in the 21st round of the 2015 Draft following his junior season at North Carolina State, the Brewers were able to convince Olczak to pass up his senior season with the Wolfpack in order to sign with them.  He split time between Helena and the AZL in his first season, then jumped over Class-A Wisconsin and went to High-A Brevard County in 2016.  He returned to High-A in 2017, pitching for the Carolina Mudcats, but suffered an injury at the end of May that shut him down for a good chunk of the season.   A two-pitch pitcher with a fastball in the low-90’s Olczak battled command issues in college but has been fairly consistent as a pro.  He has good run on his fastball that makes it appear a little quicker than it is and is a bulldog on the mound, showing a willingness to attack hitters.

2015:  Olczak was assigned to the AZL Brewers after signing with Milwaukee , but didn’t stay in Arizona long, posting a 1.93 earned run average in six appearances and earning a bump to Helena.  He had similar success in eight games there, posting a 2.45 ERA and holding opposing hitters to a .167 batting average while also registering a pair of saves.

2016:  The Brewers were impressed enough with Olczak’s initial showing that they opted to have him jump over the Midwest League and they sent him to High-A Brevard County in 2016.  He made 38 relief appearances for the Manatees, going 1-3 with a 3.04 ERA while striking out 67 batters in 56.1 innings and leading Brevard in saves, with ten.

2017:  Olczak returned to High-A to begin 2017, pitching for the Carolina Mudcats and went 1-1 with a 4.95 ERA in 11 outings.  Unfortunately, he suffered an injury which knocked him out of action for over two months.  He finally returned to the mound in August, making three rehab appearances in Maryvale for the AZL Brewers.
