Profile:  Part of the Brewers’ July 2nd class in 2015, Perez was signed out of Venezuela and began his pro career in the Dominican Summer League in 2016.  After handling himself well as a 17-year-old, the Brewers opted to bring Perez stateside in 2017, assigning him to their team in the Arizona League.  A solid defender with a quick release and an above average arm, Perez is also a threat with the bat in his hands, thanks to his quick wrists and ability to drive the ball.  There’s some swing-and-miss to his game, but when he makes contact, he can hit the ball to all fields and displays plus power for a catcher.  He has also seen significant time at first base, but his value is greatly increased if he is able to stick behind the plate.

2016:  Perez began his pro career in the Dominican, playing for the DSL Brewers in 2016 and handled himself well as one of the younger players on the team.  In 47 games he hit .226 with 17 of his 33 hits going for extra-bases, including a team best seven home runs in 146 at-bats.

2017:  The Brewers liked what they saw from Perez in his first season and chose to bring him to the U.S. in 2017, assigning him to their Arizona League squad in Maryvale.  He struggled against a little bit better pitching, batting .175 without an extra-base hit, and saw limited action behind the plate, but did cut down two out of five opposing base stealers.
