40-man roster: No

How acquired: Drafted (21st, 2016)

Profile: Selected by the Brewers in the 21st round in 2016 out of Cypress Community College, Rodriguez signed with Milwaukee for a bonus of $100,000 and he made his pro debut with Helena in the Pioneer League before getting a bump to Class-A Wisconsin late in the year.  He returned to Wisconsin in 2017, sharing catching duties with Mario Feliciano, and saw action in 51 Midwest League games for the Timber Rattlers.  A plus defender behind the plate who blocks well and has a better than average throwing arm, Rodriguez’s defense is ahead of his offense at present.  He hasn’t been awful at the plate, hitting a combined .238 through his first two seasons and he doesn’t strike out much, which will serve him well going forward.

2016:  After being selected by Milwaukee in the June Draft, Rodriguez began his career with Helena, appearing in 43 games.  He hit .272/.360/.395 with three home runs and drove in 21 before moving up to Wisconsin for the final few games of the year.

2017:  Rodriguez returned to Wisconsin to begin the 2017 season and played in 51 games for the Timber Rattlers.  He wound up hitting .221/.287/.276 with six doubles and a home run and gunned down 35% of opposing base stealers.
