Profile: Originally selected out of high school by the Cleveland Indians in the 27th round of the 2015 Draft, Rubick opted to head to college, starting off at Arizona before transferring to Ventura Junior College. He was picked again in 2017, this time in the 20th round by Milwaukee, and he opted to sign and begin his pro career.  The Brewers assigned Rubick to their AZL affiliate in Maryvale, where he logged 36.2 innings, working as both a starter and a reliever.  With a fastball that site in the 91-93 mph range and could gain more velocity as he develops, Rubick has good size and put up solid strikeout numbers in college and his first taste of pro ball.  He’s got the size you like from a starting pitcher, but his fastball could play up more in a relief role.

2017:  Passing up an offer to head to the University of Hawaii in order to sign with the Brewers, Rubick instead made his way to the AZL, where he appeared in 14 games for the Brewers’ affiliate, starting five.  He finished his first season of pro ball with a record of 2-2 and an earned run average of 6.14, recording one save in two chances.
