Profile:  Signed by the Brewers in 2016 after going undrafted out of Nicholls State, Smith was sent to the Arizona League to make his pro debut in 2016.  He began 2017 back in Maryvale in extended spring training, and again wound up pitching for Milwaukee’s AZL club once their season got underway.  An imposing figure on the mound at six-foot-five, Smith has put up big strikeout numbers and has been tough for opposing hitters to square up during his limited action, and if he can display better command and cut down on the walks, he could turn into a nice relief option.

2016:  After signing with Milwaukee in July of 2016, Smith debuted in the Arizona League in 2016, making eight relief appearances for the AZL Brewers.  In 9.2 innings of work, he struck out 18 batters and was nearly untouchable, holding opposing hitters to an .065 average.

2017:  Smith returned to the AZL for a second season in 2017 and again put up big strikeout numbers out of the bullpen, racking up 27 punchouts in 21 innings of work.  Opposing hitters posted just a .192 average against him, but walks were again an issue as he allowed 16 free passes.
