Profile:  The Brewers used their 37th-round pick in 2017 to select Taugner following his senior season at Brown University.  He signed with Milwaukee and was sent to the Arizona League to begin his pro career with Milwaukee’s team in Maryvale.  At 6’3″, 215 Taugner has the frame to be a starter, but after working mainly in that role in college, the Brewers used him primarily out of the bullpen in his first season in the pros.  A strike-thrower who doesn’t issue many free passes, Taugner does allow a lot of contact against him, but also racks up his fair share of K’s.

2017:  Signed by Milwaukee following the draft, Taugner got his career started in the AZL, appearing in 14 games, three of which came as a starter.  He finished his first season with a record of 2-4 to go along with an earned run average of 3.74 and recorded 50 strikeouts in 45.2 innings of work.
