Profile: After going undrafted out of Stanford following his senior season, Thorne signed a free agent deal with the Brewers and kicked off his career in Maryvale with Milwaukee’s AZL affiliate.  An intelligent pitcher who works off of a low-90’s fastball that he throws across his body, Thorne also mixes in a changeup, but his best pitch may be his big breaking ball, which he uses as an out pitch, changing the eye level of hitters with its appearance of dropping off the table.  He worked almost exclusively out of the bullpen at Stanford and did the same in his first taste of pro ball, with his future likely lying in a relief role.

2017:  Assigned to the Arizona League after signing with the Brewers following the draft, Thorne made 13 relief appearances for the AZL Brewers in 2017.  He went 2-0 with a 4.18 earned run average, striking out 26 batters in 28 innings of work while issuing only six walks.
