Profile: Signed by Milwaukee out of his native Dominican Republic in 2011, Ventura spent his first three seasons pitching for the Brewers affiliate in the Dominican Summer League before coming stateside and pitching in Maryvale in 2014. He skipped past Helena and moved to Class-A Wisconsin in 2015, the split the 2016 season between High-A Brevard County and Double-A Biloxi. With a fastball that sits in the 91-93 mph range and a slider that can be a strikeout pitch for him when he’s on, Ventura has struck out roughly a batter per inning throughout his career, and though he does allow his fair share of base runners, he has shown an ability to negate that with his strikeout numbers.

After inking a free agent deal with the Brewers, Ventura joined their affiliate in the Dominican Summer League and made his pro debut there in 2011. He made 12 appearances there, starting one game, and went 2-2 with a 6.00 ERA, saving one game.

Ventura returned to the DSL in 2012, but his struggles continued. In 13 games, two of which were starts, he went 1-3 with a 7.12 earned run average while opposing hitters posted a .354 batting average against him.

The Brewers opted to send Ventura back to the DSL for a third consecutive year in 2013, but he enjoyed much better success in his third DSL stint. In 12 games, four starts, he posted a record of 5-2 with a 2.70 ERA while striking out 65 batters in 60 innings of work.

Coming off his success the year before, Milwaukee chose to bring Ventura stateside in 2014 and he saw action in 14 games for their Arizona League affiliate in Maryvale. He started six games and posted a record of 6-3 with a 5.19 ERA.

Ventura jumped over Helena and made his way to Low-A Wisconsin in the Midwest League to begin 2015 and he turned in a terrific season for the Timber Rattlers. He started exactly half of the 28 games he appeared in, going 7-6 with a 3.09 ERA while racking up 126 strikeouts in 122.2 innings of work.

The Brewers bumped Ventura up from Wisconsin to High-A Brevard County to begin the 2016 season and he enjoyed similar success in 15 games there, nine of which he started. He went 3-3 with a 3.73 ERA and received a July promotion to Double-A Biloxi. He finished out the season with the Shuckers, starting nine of the 11 games he worked in, posting an ERA of 4.09
