Profile:  Selected by Milwaukee in the 12th round of the 2017 Draft, the Brewers were able to lure Ward away from an offer to USC with a signing bonus reported by Baseball America to be worth $475,000.  The nephew of former Chicago Bears All-Pro safety Mark Carrier, Ward is lanky but athletic and has plenty of raw tools.  A left-handed hitter with plus bat speed, he’s an average or better runner and should develop more power as his frame fills out.  He went to Arizona following his signing and got his career started in the Arizona League with the Brewers’ affiliate in Maryvale.

2017:  The Brewers were impressed with what they saw from Ward in his first taste of pro ball.  A terrific athlete, Ward showed an ability to handle the bat that many had not seen before and turned in a solid debut.  In 32 AZL contests, the six-foot-five outfielder hit .276 with six doubles while seeing time defensively at all three outfield spots.
